This project began as a typographic experiment in various mediums and they can be applied to practical use. The review paper helped me churn out numerous possibilities.
Product
This alphabet game set is an educational tool that serves to improve children's visual analytical skills and concept understanding.The goal of this teaching material is for children to identify alphabets and gain better readability. It will help improve their analytical skills through understanding concept of alphabet anatomy.
The product consists of 3 decks of cards, each having alphabets illustrated in different styles. Kids have to sort the deck matching alphabets from each style. They do this based on their understanding of the alphabet anatomy and ability of visual analysis.
Why is this important?
1. Visual analytical Skills : This skill is particularly important in spelling and is an essential skill for phonetic decoding of words. Visual Form Constancy – the ability to mentally manipulate forms and visualize the resulting outcomes. This skill helps children distinguish differences in size, shape, and orientation.
2. Test for Visual Perceptual Skills (TVPS) : This game set helps parents to identify child's Visual perceptual skills and which part of it is weak. The test includes following aspects:
